Daniel Burnham Farrington (1814-1898)


Elizabeth Guild Farrington was born on November 7, 1816 in Roxbury. She married Daniel Burnham Farrington (no relation) on June 12, 1861 in Dedham. Daniel Farrington had been married before to Tirzah Maria Beckwith on September 17, 1848. He married Elizabeth Farrington after his first wife’s death in the 1858.


Daniel Burnham Farrington, a dry goods merchant, was one of the best-known men in his day in South Dedham and Norwood. He died on January 26, 1898. After his death, Elizabeth lived with her nephew in Westwood. She died of arterio sclerosis at her nephew’s home in Westwood on June 17, 1907.



She was beloved by relatives and friends and much esteemed by old time residents.

She was survived by many relatives in Norwood, Westwood, and East Walpole. She was 90 years, 7 months, and 10 days old. She was interred in the Farrington family lot in Old Parish Cemetery.
