Thomas Child Rhoads was born on June 6, 1818. He was the son of Aaron Rhoads and Betsy Child Rhoads, of Roxbury.
On April 25, 1841, Thomas Rhoads married Harriet A. Thompson, known as Hazel, who was born on June 3, 1823 in Maine. Thomas Rhoads was a cabinet maker in one of the furniture making establishments in South Dedham.
Thomas and Harriet had three children: Mary Caroline born in 1844, William Edward, born in 1846, and Albert Lewis, born in 1860. Mary Caroline married Joel Weatherbee Jr. (lot 72); Albert Lewis married Angelina Dobson (lot 22).
On February 18, 1867, Harriet A. Thompson Rhoads died; the cause was identified as a disease of the uterus.
On May 15, 1870, Thomas C. Rhoads married Olive Hannah Henry, who was born on August 16, 1833 in New York.
Thomas Child Rhoads died on November 27, 1888 and Olive Rhoads passed away on June 16, 1892.
Thomas, Harriet, and Olive Rhoads are all interred in lot 22 in Old Parish Cemetery. Thomas’ mother, Mrs. Betsy Child Rhoads who died on December 22, 1866 as well as his son Albert and daughter-in-law Angelina Dobson are also interred in this family lot.
