Milley (Melitiah) Fales (1772-1786)


 

Eliphalet Fales, Jr. (1743-1825) was born on November 3, 1743. He was the son of Eliphalet Fales and Abigail Everett Fales. Eliphalet Fales Jr. was a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

 

Around 1770, Fales married Abigail Everett, the daughter of Edward Everett and Mary Allen Everett. Abigail was born on March 9, 1742. The couple had three children: Milley, born in 1772; Abner, born in 1773, and Oliver, born in 1776.

 

On October 5, 1777, Abigail Everett Fales died. She was 34.

 

Widower Eliphalet Fales, Jr. married Melitiah Everett on April 13, 1779. She was the daughter of Eleazer Everett and Judith Dean Everett. Eliphalet Jr. and Melitiah Everett were first cousins. Eliphalet Jr.’s mother, Abigail Everett Fales, and Melitiah’s father, Eleazer Everett, were siblings, the children of John Everett (1676-1751) and Mercy Browne Everett (1679-1779) (lots 160a and 160). John Everett was the first Deacon of the South Parish Church.

 

Eliphalet and Melitiah Everett had seven children: Eliphalet III, Horace, Abigail, Homer, James, Persis, and Oliver.

 

On October 25, 1786, Milley Fales, the daughter of Eliphalet and his first wife, Abigail, died. She was 15. Both her gravestone and that of her mother, Abigail Everett Fales, were carved by Daniel Farrington, a well-known stone cutter from Wrentham.

 

Eliphalet Fales, Jr. died on December 13, 1825; his death was attributed to old age.

His gravestone no longer exists.
