Lavina Littlefield was born c. 1780 to Jeremiah Littlefield and his wife, Elizabeth Everett Littlefield of Medway. On July 23, 1800, Lavina married Moses Rhoads of Dedham. Rhoads (whose name is spelled in various ways) was born in 1777 and christened on September 7 of that year.


On January 5, 1802, Moses Rhoads died. He was 24 years old. A few months later, Lavina gave birth to a son, Moses Rhoads (1802-1882).


On November 5, 1803, Lavina Rhoads married Abijah Fairbanks. Fairbanks was born on July 28, 1778 and was the son of Benjamin and Mary Draper Fairbanks. Abijah and Lavina had three children. Benjamin, Elizabeth, and James.




Abijah Fairbanks died on August 11, 1810, leaving Lavina twice a widow at 30.


Lavina’s oldest child, Moses Rhoads (or Rhodes) married twice as well. First, to Nancy Keith and, after her death, to Mary H. W. Smith Gay, a widow. Moses Rhodes is buried in lot 25 along with his mother and stepfather.


As for Lavina’s children with Abijah Fairbanks, Benjamin Fairbanks, born in 1806, married Priscilla Cushman and raised a family in South Dedham. He is buried in lot 115. James, born in 1810, married Roxanna Gay; they are interred in lot 118. Elizabeth did not marry; she was 20 when she died on September 23, 1827. She is buried with her parents in lot 25.
