Esther Hinsdale Turner (1746-1798)
Esther Hinsdale was born on March 7, 1746 in Medfield. She was the daughter of Samuel Hinsdale and Esther Fisher Hinsdale of Wrentham.
On August 25, 1770 in Dedham, Esther Hinsdale married Joseph Turner, born in 1744.

Little is known about the couple.
Joseph Turner served in the “militia company of South Parish in Dedham” under the command of William Bullard on April 19, 1775 and on March 4, 1776, both important dates in the Revolutionary War.

Esther Hinsdale Turner died on May 28, 1798. The South Church records state only: “Mrs. Esther, the wife of Mr. Joseph Turner, 51.”
Her gravestone, carved by Daniel Farrington, is equally as succinct:
In memory of
Mrs. Esther, wife of
Mr. Joseph Turner
who died May 28th,
1798
Aged 51
years.
