Lucy Gay Fuller (1792-1868)
Ellis Fuller was born in 1788 to Eliphalet and Elenor Ellis Fuller. He was one of four children.
On August 1, 1815, Ellis married Lucy Gay of Salisbury. She was born on July 30, 1792. The couple had two children: William Ellis Fuller (1816-1886), and Alvin Fuller (1821-1905).
Following in the footsteps of his father, Ellis Fuller was a farmer. He was also elected to Dedham’s Board of Selectmen in 1833 and served for 7 years.
Ellis Fuller died on March 23, 1857 of dropsy at 69 years of age. Dropsy was a term used to describe generalized swelling and was synonymous with heart failure. Its treatment options were few.
His widow, Lucy Gay Fuller died on June 18, 1868 of gastritis. She was 76.
Both are interred in the Fuller lot 38 along with Ellis Fuller’s mother, Elenor Ellis Fuller, who passed away in 1844. The Fuller stones have recently been repaired and reset by volunteers.
